Minnesota Marine Art Museum Permanent Collection

The Minnesota Marine Art Museum has a growing collection of marine art and objects from a variety of sources, artists and periods. The collection includes paintings by renowned marine artists William Bradford, Alfred Bricher, Edward William Cooke, Montague Dawson and Mauritz Frederick de Haas. Marine objects include two 19th-century British ships' figureheads, ship models, wheels, steam engine models and a variety of navigational instruments. A collection of items associated with Admiral Horatio Nelson  include his washbasin from Victory after the Battle of Trafalgar, personal letters in both his left and right hand and a posthumous portrait by Samuel Lane.

Museum Acquires Louis C. Tiffany Stain Glass Window

The most recent addition to the museum's permanent collection is a beautiful stained glass window by America's best known glassmaker Louis C. Tiffany. The 8' by 8" window entilted "View of the Bay through Wooded Landscape with Stream" is mounted in the atirum.  The piece was commisioned in 1896 by a wealthy home owner in Tiburon, CA and depicts a view from his property overlooking San Francisco Bay. The window has remained in the family and private hands until now. It is fitting the museum acquired this window for Winona, a historic and contemporary stained glass center.
