Tours

The Museum offers docent-led tours for a special rate to groups of 10 or more. Our tours are designed to be interactive in nature, inviting visitors to be directly engaged in their museum experience. Please contact Heather MacGaw, Curator of Education, at 507-474-6626 for more information or to schedule your tour.

Group Tours

  • Minimum of 10 people, maximum of 50.
  • Tour must be scheduled at least two weeks prior to tour date.
  • Tours are available during all open Museum hours.
  • Tours are typically one hour in length and can be tailored to fit the needs of the group.
  • Tours are $5 per person (bus driver and tour guide for chartered trips admitted free). 
  • A confirmation letter will be sent two weeks prior to your tour date.


School ToursSchool Tours

  • For Pre-school to college and graduate school students.
  • Minimum 10 students, maximum of 50.
  • Tour must be scheduled at least three weeks prior to tour date.
  • Tours are available between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday unless other arrangements are made in advance.
  • Tours are typically one hour in length and include a variety of interactive strategies for exploring artwork.
  • There must be a minimum of one adult chaperone for every ten students. If students are under the age of five, then we require one chaperone for every five students.
  • Tours are $2 per student (teachers and the appropriate number of adult chaperones admitted free).
  • Pencils may be used in the galleries if prior arrangements have been made.
  • Tips for chaperoning on a museum tour will be sent with your confirmation letter.

 

Self-Guided ToursPublic Tours

Groups of 10 or more are eligible for the $5 tour rate (regardless of whether it is a docent-led tour or not) if the tour scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
 

Public Tours

Docent-led public tours are offered the second Sunday of every month at 1pm. Tours are free with paid admission and no reservations are needed. Tours meet in the Museum’s atrium and are approximately one hour in length.
