Family Programs

Pause. Reflect. Discover. Share.

Family and children’s programs are specifically designed with young visitors in mind. Our programs allow our youngest visitors to respond to colors, shapes and the physical environment, while programs for older children will help develop critical looking skills and self-confidence. Families will enjoy the Museum’s programs and activities that reflect and enhance the current exhibitions. Please check this page often for upcoming family programs and descriptions.

See artworks in a whole new way as Museum staff and volunteers read family-friendly stories in front of original artworks. Afterward, create an original artwork to take home! Each Saturday we’ll explore a different theme through original artworks, stories and a special art project. All ages are welcome, but stories are geared to children 8 and under.

Saturday, June 26 "Hooked on Books!"
Have you ever caught a fish using a hook?  We'll check out some the unique hooks used in fishing in our exhibit HOOKED: Historic Fishing Lures and then we will read some summer stories about fishing and other outdoor activities.

Saturday, September 25 "Quack Open a Book"
We'll quack open some books while we look at the historic duck stamps in the exhibit Art for Nature's Sake: Duck Stamps and Wetland Conservation.

Saturday, November 20 "By the Sea"
Join for our last storytelling of 2010 with a special morning by the sea, or at least by some beautiful paintings of the sea.  We will read some sea-themed stories and talk about water in art.
